Kimmortal is an independent artist and creative powerhouse based on unceded Coast Salish Territory (Vancouver, BC). As a queer filipinx woman of colour, she explores themes relating to love, healing, ancestral connection, and community empowerment through an eclectic mix of soul, indie-rock, rap, hip hop and experimental. Kimmortal often brings unexpected instruments into her live sets including the ukulele or glockenspiel. After graduating from UBC in Visual Arts and Art History, she became immersed in theatre, community activism and art projects while recording her debut album Sincerity (2014). Her second album to be released in the fall incorporates electronic soul hip-hop, field recordings of nature, and filipino traditional instruments. Other festivals she has performed at include Canadian Music Week, Kultura Filipino Arts Festival (Toronto), New West Pride Festival, and the Queer Women of Colour Film Festival (San Francisco). She has opened up for artists Shad K, Azizi Gibson, Gabriel Teodros, Lal, and Saul Willaims.
